How to teach us

As if He Thought His body real
But He knew through His forgiveness

Master, Teacher
Dearest Son
Brother of all men
Is He
Christ within;
Each child of God
This message True
He brought to me

I release the outcome of this healing session
into Your Loving Hands.
Knowing that You are the Presence and
the Power, here and now.
Use me as Your instrument,
and imbue my mind with
the thoughts You would have me think,
the words You would have me say,
and the actions You would have me perform,
so Your truest healing miracles can occur.
Bless the one I’m assisting
and let nothing of my small self pass to them.
Let them only receive what You would have them receive,
and experience what You would have them experience;
for their healing, happiness and peace.
May they experience only You in me.

Confession, now known as the Rite of Reconciliation, is a Catholic sacrament in which we share our transgressions with a priest.
According to church law, the priest has the power to absolve the sins of anyone who confesses to him.
Many non-Catholics don’t understand why we should confess. Why we should bear our souls to a perfect stranger, or worse still, to a parish priest who has known us since infancy.

I feel that grace and healing are intrinsically linked.
They merge together to create moments of love — which is the greatest healer.
And, as we know, love can manifest in many different forms such as joy, laughter, or even tears of relief.
Like grace, healing is not something that can be decided upon.
We can decide that we want to be a vehicle for healing or that we would like to receive some healing. But we can’t decide when, where or what form the healing takes. That’s not our role. Continue reading
One of my earliest recollections of the gift of grace in my life was an interaction I shared with Sister Catherine, my 1st grade teacher. I loved Sister Catherine in an all-encompassing way.
One day, we were discussing names and she said to me that my given name, Karen, was the Danish derivative of her chosen name, Catherine. She told me that our names mean ‘purity’.
I was only 6 years old, but the feeling of expansion and the sense of space I experienced in that moment remains with me today.
She joined with me in likeness, through our mutual purity — hers chosen, mine given — and gave to me the gift of grace.
It’s not something that can be planned.
It can be desired, but even the desire for a moment of grace seems to make it elusive. Continue reading
