Inspired moment

By Karen Scott 2 Comments

Image of sun and mountainUndulating, strong, serene
Peace on Earth
As above so below
Lungs of this world
Breathe life

Resuscitate
Expired, empty fragments
Of consciousness
Birthed as One
Wholly unified

Restore truth
Of One Source
Eternal Will
Supplicates in surrender
The mortal being

Nature’s child

By Karen Scott 2 Comments

Image of a man jumpimg

Image: jearle

Young, the man
Who’s seeking to belong
Brave, the spirit
Moved by nature’s song

Memories, echoes
Of a long forgotten place
Move, with passion
Power, strength and grace

Now, unsettled
By the harried throng
Tear-kissed cheek
The pain won’t last too long

Long, the shadows
Sun-drenched afternoon
Take heart
The moment will be over soon

Retrieve and own
The splendid power of youth
Be tempered by
Your own Eternal Truth

Sleep-over sunrise

By Karen Scott 4 Comments

Image of a sunrise

Image: The Knowles Gallery

Pink and yellow
Marshmallow clouds
Suspended in
An azure sky

Sun appears
Pink turns to grey
Golden slivers
Rising high

Time elapses
Clouds transform
Fill the sky
Grey, blue and white

Gentle breeze
Caress the treetops
World awakens
Splendid sight

Watched together
Morning glory
Words of wisdom
To impart

From the teachings
Of the Father
Touched her precious
Mind and heart

Morning Light
New day beginning
Little hands
The window touch

Hugs and kisses
Stories, laughter
Children’s hearts
Which love so much

A flower’s power

By Karen Scott 2 Comments

Image of poppies

Image: Greg Balzer

Woolly pods containing life
Held upon a curling thread
Reaching this way bending that
Waiting patiently to shed

Green-brown casings peel away
Pop and fall and scatter free
Pretty poppies now emerge
Petals unfurl, colour spree

Nature’s potent pacifier
Cast your spell, entice a daze
Just a little dangerous flower
Paper-thin your petals blaze

Brightly coloured heads are lifted
Boldly face towards the sun
Colours rich in vibrant shades
Brush strokes from the Gracious One

All power comes from One above
Nature’s precious gifts enfold
Songs of Beauty, Strength and Grace
The silent power poppies hold

Recognising the symbols, themes and influences in life

By Karen Scott 2 Comments

Image of a snakeI was born in the year of the Snake.

When I made this discovery, I felt an immediate rapport with these much-feared, slithering creatures.

I don’t have a fear of snakes.

I’ve never had reason to.

Unlike those who do fear them, I find myself excited when they make an appearance in my life.

I see them as sacred messengers of Spirit, who cross my path to impart some wisdom.

And just as nature holds messages for me, so do many other facets of my life.

My astrological signs, animal totems, past lives, angels and every other influence of that nature, have each had their own significance and impact.

Whether subtle or profound, each of these elements are all a part of the jigsaw puzzle which is my life. Continue reading

Cycles in time

Mountains and majestic lakes
Rock formations, desert scapes

Holy sites, the Taj Mahal
Vistas of the city sprawl

Lightning flashing, thunder crashing
Sun keeps setting, raindrops splashing

Life continues on and on
Never moves a shade beyond

Cycles which hold firm and true
Inspiring me, uplifting you

A vegan life — naturally compassionate

By Karen Scott Leave a Comment

image of a cowChoosing a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle is growing in popularity. More and more people understand the many benefits to be gained from this choice.

Compassion, kindness and peace of mind, as well as improved energy and physical health, to name a few.

Yet conventional thinking considers eating meat to be normal and good for you.

Being vegan, therefore, is often viewed by mainstream thinking to be a radical approach to life.

Few seem to stop to consider the radical nature of factory farming, with its breeding and slaughtering of food animals en masse to turn a buck and satisfy the lust for meat. Continue reading

Being vegan — the harmless way to live

By Karen Scott 2 Comments

Image of lambsI love animals.

I love them in the same way I love trees, mountains, the ocean; all of nature.

And, although I wasn’t a child who fussed or fretted about animals, I would dearly have loved a little cat of my own. But that was really the extent of my interest in pets.

I didn’t feel a need to acquire a menagerie, or possess or pat every animal in sight. I simply appreciated the differences and beauty they offered to my experience of life.

At Easter time, when we traveled to the country to visit family, along the way Dad would point out the lambs that had just been docked or the sheep which had just been shorn.

At these times, I always felt that there was something unnatural and unkind about what had been done to those animals.

They were being shorn as Autumn was arriving.

Of course, I now understand the kindness behind docking — albeit unnatural and imposed.

But my natural, first impression, was an unpleasant sinking feeling and an overwhelming surge of compassion. Especially for the little baby lambs. Continue reading

Fluid motion

Image of a water droplet

Rapid water flowing
Shapes the waterfall

Still the lake lies frozen
Skating now for all

When the thaw releases
From the frosty grip

All the life which lies beneath
The frozen icy tip

Water now returns to find
Its worn and weathered course

And keeps its rhythm flowing toward
Its Ocean Mother Source

Prayer of gratitude

By Karen Scott Leave a Comment

Image of a swimming vole

Dear God,

Today I feel only love around me,
Nature’s beauty to astound me.
These are things I am grateful for,
Each of these things and so many more.

Birds as they twitter and sit on the eaves,
Leaves as they rustle, the warm summer breeze.
These are things I am grateful for,
Each of these things, and so many more.

The sun as it shines in the clear blue sky,
Soft white clouds as they drift by.
These are things I am grateful for,
Each of these things, and so many more.

Fresh, clear, water to drink and to swim,
Healthy nutrition, to eat on a whim.
These are the things I am grateful for,
Each of these things and so many more.

An indigo canvas of moon and of stars,
People to love and hold in my arms.
Each of these things and so many more,
Are some of the things I am grateful for.

Thank You,
Amen.

Dragonfly

Image of dragonfly

Zig and zag
Duck and dive
Purring wings
Now revive

All the inspiration found
Whizzing high
Above the ground

Dip and dash
Swing and sweep
Keep momentum
Do not sleep

Till you settle on the lake
Surface tension
Bed shall make

Wend and weave
Slip and glide
Movement graceful
Nature’s guide

Give your message
As you ride
Free along the riverside

Part of all that is

A drop in the ocean
Am I

A speck in the cloud
Passing by

A leaf on the tree
The buzz of the bee

I am one
With the sun
In the sky

Eternal

By Karen Scott 2 Comments

Image: Jasen Miller

My feet they stand
On sun drenched sand
The ocean now I see

Beyond all time
The clouds do climb
And roll and morph and flee

The moon and sun
Reflect the One
Who shaped the heart to be

Eternal Light
Of pure delight
Which calms the savage sea

First day of spring

By Karen Scott Leave a Comment

image of dew drops

Reverie and gratitude
Welcome rich new life
Dew-drenched and glistening
Quenched by heaven’s bounty

The first day of Spring
Ushers the morning sun
Beaming clean shards of light
Which pierce the coldness

As the crisp cool breeze
Tempered by odd warm moments
Heralds new possibilities
Offering hope

Enlivened, the awakened earth
Reflects the spirit’s longing
And the promise of tomorrow
Sustains us

Treasure found within

By Karen Scott Leave a Comment

Image of a ball of light

Image: Spirit-Fire

Take this Orb contained within
Light the night sky bright
Fill each vessel from the port
Of thy blessed sight

Steady with each step you take
Forward is the way
Every hand that’s filled with hope
Defeats the dark night’s fray

When all the world is joined in love
And every heart is true
And all eyes see the blessedness
Of every peaceful view

We all above have triumphed
As joy fills every day
Because each Orb contained within
Is lit and shines the Way
