Preparing for a Soulful Christmas

By Karen Scott Leave a Comment

Image of NativityWith Christmas rapidly approaching, it’s a good idea to take some time to think about what Christmas means for us.

For many, Christmas is a time of reflection, sharing and love.

It’s the time of year when we go to extra lengths to show those we love just how much they mean to us.

So spending some time connecting with and being moved by our soul, as well as reflecting on the spiritual aspects of Christmas, is a wonderful place to begin.

But what does it actually mean to connect with our soul and the spiritual aspects of Christmas? Continue reading

It’s the most wonderful time of the year

By Karen Scott Leave a Comment

Image of Christmas windowFor some people, Christmas can be a time of the year that they’d rather not have to think about.

They may even want to avoid it.

The commercialism, and inappropriate values associated with it, can lead people to feel that the only meaning to be found in Christmas is the power of the mighty dollar.

Yet at the heart of Christmas is the gift of sharing and love that we offer one another. Continue reading

White light

Image of light in the sky

Pure is white
Not fractured light
Essential fine and calm

It is the Truth
Of Spirits whole
Of Ones who cause no harm

Of Ones who see
Eternity
Is written in the Soul

The blessed
And the knowing
Sharing all that makes us whole

The Easter gift

Easter — Eostre,
New Beginnings
Bunnies, eggs
New life abounds;
From a distant
Time and country
Symbols formed
And shaped around

Pagan stories
Filled with myth
Power placed in
Nature’s kind;
But One had
A different message
All within
One Blessed Mind

How to teach us
Such a learning
Held in deepest
Love for all;
Only such a One
Could teach
And lift us up
From such a fall

Remembered for His sacrifice
As if He Thought His body real
But He knew through His forgiveness
Each and every mind would Heal

Master, Teacher
Dearest Son
Brother of all men
Is He
Christ within;
Each child of God
This message True
He brought to me

Easter stories
Bring a blessing
To forgive
Our heavy heart
By extending
Love to others
Forgiveness, the
True Healing Art

Into the Star

Image of an angel

Image: Eddi van W.

I sink into my centre
Not peaceful … or still
But alive with Creation

Feeling and movement
Awaken the star within

In a surge of power
I’m transformed
And enter the Void

Through graceful motion
I’m carried away

My wings released
I fly to the heavens
To merge with the Star

People just want to be loved, don’t they?

By Karen Scott 6 Comments

Image of a hand‘I just want to be loved.’

Have you ever heard someone say these words, or have you ever said them yourself?

Well I’ve definitely heard them before.

And it makes me wonder what these words really mean.

Is that what people really want? To be loved?

Most people would answer with a resounding ‘YES!’

‘Yes, I want to be loved. Of course I do.’

But could it be that, rather than wanting to be loved, it’s the experience of feeling love that people are actually searching for?

If it is, then our attention needs to shift from looking outside ourselves for love, to the more immediate experience of love which can be found within.

Yet because so few people know how to connect with love in a fulfilling way, they look to others for love instead.

They turn their attention outside in, and stop viewing life from the inside out. Continue reading

The sacred value of motherhood

By Karen Scott Leave a Comment

image of pregnant womanMotherhood is one the most sacred roles women can play in life. Its sacredness exists in its potential to teach us unconditional love.

From the moment of conception, a mother’s thoughts can turn from her own personal interests to the best interests of her child.

Or not.

What she eats and drinks, as well as her lifestyle choices, will ultimately define just how sacred this role is for her.

With her thoughts and aspirations for her future now imbued with considerations for another human being, a woman is challenged to act with greater love. Through this greater love, fulfilment, expansion and contentment can be experienced and understood. Continue reading

Vulnerability, the sacred space of strength

By Karen Scott 2 Comments

Image of dragonfly on waterlilyLife is a process of unfolding.

Like the petals of a delicate flower, we open and move into new states of grace. As we open ourselves more fully, we become increasingly more vulnerable and exposed.

But this isn’t a fragile place.

Quite the contrary.

Within the heart of vulnerability lies the realisation that love can’t be fully experienced whilst we actively keep secrets or try to withhold or protect ourselves.

Keeping secrets leads to fear and guilt. This wastes our precious energies. On the other hand, within our vulnerability sits our tenderness, gentility and compassion. And it’s here that our true strength is seated.

The ability to be gentle yet strong creates a powerful healing force, which gives permission to others to let their defences down when they’re around us. This allows us be open to loving communication and fulfilling experiences. Continue reading

Golden Light
Attending Angel: Archangel Raphael

Dearest Heavenly Father,

I ask for Your help today.
Please send Your loving Angels
to be with me and guide me on my Path.
Infuse me with the active power of
Your Greatness and Your Love.
Restore my faith in myself,
and Your ability to affect positive change
through me, in the many situations
I encounter this day.
I open my mind to receive Your Golden Light
which radiates through me, so that everyone
and everything I touch,
is imbued with sacred power.
I invoke Divine Power.
I invoke Divine Love.
I invoke Divine Wisdom.

Thank You,
Amen.

Atheist or believer, it’s still a matter of faith

By Karen Scott Leave a Comment

Image of Virtruvian ManI always watch with fascination when a panel or interviewer brings together an atheist and a believer.

Usually, they’re very well educated, and it always ends up being a competition rather than a sharing of different beliefs.

Of course, I’m always hoping the chosen representative of my team, The Believers, will say the things I’m thinking and win a point for our side.

But what usually follows is a steady and consistent thrashing as The Atheists pull their punches and win the day.

Their arguments often include, ‘God is for the weak minded who don’t like to face reality’, and ‘where’s the proof?’

I’m not sure if it’s my bias or a truly honest observation, but it seems to me that The Atheist becomes increasingly aggressive whilst The Believer, often a cleric, withdraws. Continue reading
